About Us
We have been providing elderly and mental health care services in West Yorkshire since 1993 and since establishing Eldercare (Halifax) Limited as our operating company, we have spent the last decade developing a portfolio of quality care homes.
Our services cover a broad range of care needs for elderly, disabled and younger people and we are developing more specialised services in mental health. We see this as a key requirement in the future. A full description, location and contact details of each of our homes, and those of our affiliate companies, is set out in our Care Homes Section. We currently operate 13 homes throughout West Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Our Philosophy of Care recognises the importance of the individual: that each of our care facilities is our residents’ home and that we just work there. Our care planning is designed to deliver quality and promote each residents enjoyment of daily living.
Our senior management maintains very close contact with our Care Home Managers and provides guidance and support in areas of staff training & quality control. We are an Investor in People (IIP) organisation and ensure that by investing in our people we can maintain high standards that our customers expect. We do this by focusing on staff training and development. Everyone who joins Eldercare undergoes a comprehensive induction program which covers regulations, care services, best practice and our Philosophy of Care. Thereafter, we are committed to “Skills for Care” which is a structured program designed to keep training up to date.
Many of our care homes are traditional dwellings that retain their charm and homely atmosphere. We find that our satisfied customers are less concerned with the outward appearance of the building and judge our homes by the range of activities on offer, the programme of entertainment, the quality and variety of our menus we serve and the friendly welcome they get each morning from our staff. The quality of the décor is important and our homes are upgraded as part of our program of constant improvement.
Our Head Office is located in Huddersfield, within the grounds of Sun Woodhouse Care Home. The Administration, Personnel, Premises Management and Finance departments are located at Head Office and much of our staff training is conducted there.
